Flag [realia] : National Colors 1863-1865.

This flag served as the national colors of the 20th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The flag has thirty-five gold painted stars on a blue canton. The stars are arranged in two concentric ovals surrounding one middle star. There is also one star in each of the canton's four corners. The flag's thirteen alternating red and white stripes are pieced. Dark blue text in the flag's stripes reads: "[...]HILO[...] / THOMPSONS HILLS [...] / MECHANICKSVILLE, [...] / BAKER CREEK, [...], / BIG SHANTY / SIEGE ATLANTA JULY 21ST, 22ND , 27[...] / BLACK [...] / BIG SAULTKAHA[...] / CO[...] / BENTO[...]". Some of the flag's text is no longer legible or intact due to deterioration. The flag has gold fringe on its top, right, and bottom sides.
